For the third year in a row, the province is experiencing exceptional dry conditions. April precipitation is 20 – 50% of what the average should be for this time of the year so we’re entering the wildfire risk season dryer than we normally would.
From March 15 to Oct 15, all domestic brush burning and campfires must adhere to daily Nova Scotia burning restrictions. You are required to check before you burn by calling 1-855-564-2876 or go online to Nova Scotia Burnsafe to see if it is safe to burn.
In addition, there are safety measures property owners should take to slow the spread of wildfire and reduce the risk of loosing their homes.
